Update FALL 2023

By now, you know what we do…

If you have followed this band at all, and have even visited this website, what you have noticed over the past 5 years (yes, the eddieandthevaliants.com domain was purchased on 02FEB2018) is that the only thing that has changed is the "Show" page (where the band would list upcoming gigs). So, thank you for being patient and understanding. On the other hand, it must be mentioned that in not updating the website, one major crime has been committed. We have not formally announced the addition of 3 new players. With little fanfare or fuss, these cats get the job done, gig after gig, and have not even complained to HR that the website still featured old friends who are no longer with the group. So, while the band has actually down-sized (we were once 11, and are now 9), we have added 3 new members/friends/brothers. We have welcomed Andrew Luna (vocals), Harvey McLaughlin (keys), and Ed Mendoza (drums) into the fold.

These guys are legit and are more than qualified when it comes to, "getting down." Ed is a drummer's drummer. Andrew is a drummer who also sings. Harvey (as you would know if you had checked out his other bands) plays everything AND sings. But with this group, he takes his place behind the keys (where he is more than comfortable).

If we start mentioning all the other bands that our members perform with, we'll need to purchase more space in the cloud, but that's not the immediate purpose of this website. The purpose is to serve as a backup -- if/when the situation arises when your significant other doesn't remember the exact date, or your tia wants to know if it's a free show or what time the doors open -- so that folks can confirm whatever information they are seeing on social media and/or on other websites.

Last year (2022) was a big year for this band. At the end of May 2022, we opened a night at the The Paramount Theater in Austin that saw Grupo Fantasma onstage with Joe Bataan (what a night!)...By the end of September, the band was playing it's first show at Jaime's Place opening for Thee Sacred Souls. To begin November (05NOV), the band opened for the one and only Lee Fields at The Paper Tiger -- another unforgettable gig. And finally, the band ended the year strongly. New Year's Eve was marked by Eddie and The Valiants introducing that unmistakeable San Antonio Sound to a healthy gathering of locals and visitors from out of town. That night, the band (facing west) sent some sweet sounds back in the direction from which they originated so many years ago -- in a time when your parents were kids and your grandparents were young (a phrase borrowed from a wise YouTube comment about the past). This was not the first time the band had performed where Nueva meets Alamo, and it felt like it would not be the last. The band ended the year with a bang, both figuratively and literally, playing until the countdown to midnight and fireworks. In closing, this note is meant simply to let you know that we have been keeping up and that we haven't started over. In fact, we're now catching our stride.
